Her lips are slightly parted —
not speaking, not asking.
Holding something just beneath the surface.
The warm ground carries the feeling of skin,
of heat that does not flare,
but lingers.
Yearning is not lack.
It is tension.
A quiet force that does not need to declare itself.
The lines are spare.
The emotion stays in the pause.
This piece comes from my ongoing exploration of subtle emotional states in women.
I am interested in the moment before expression —
when a feeling is fully present,
yet still contained.
There is strength in that restraint.
In choosing not to rush toward fulfilment.
In allowing longing to exist without collapsing into need.
Yearning, here, becomes a form of quiet power.
